Combining your Bosch solar collectors and storage
tank with a Bosch tankless water heater will maximize
your energy savings without comprising your comfort.
Bosch’s intelligent solar controls optimize the
performance of both systems so they work together to
ensure no energy is lost.

When the sun is shining, the solar system
collects and stores the sun’s heat in a
solar storage tank. If the temperature of
the water in the storage tank drops and
the collectors have sufficient heat, the
solar pump activates to reheat the stored
water with the energy from the collectors.
Only if there is a long period of cloudy
weather, and the collectors cannot reheat
the water in the solar storage tank, would
the tankless water heater activate to
ensure you get the hot water you need.

Bosch solar hot water systems can produce temperatures above 140°F. This make it necessary
to install a thermostatic mixing valve to protect the user from the high temperature water
produced in the solar DHW tank. Additionally a by-pass valve is installed to divert the flow of high
temperature water around the tankless water heater in order to protect the unit. Bosch offers a
number of tankless water heaters that are “solar ready.” These tankless water heaters will not
ignite if the incoming water is hotter than the set temperature on the tankless water heater. When
this condition is met, the water passes through the tankless water heater without additional,
unnecessary heat being added, and the LCD Display will indicate “Solar Mode.” It’s that simple!
