| Inverters Grid Tied (utility intertie) do not normally have a battery bank, The input voltage requirement is normally above 195 volts DC and on up to 600 volts DC. However, there are grid tie interfaces for some of the off grid type inverters. Allows you to keep a battery bank in the loop for a backup and feed electric back into the grid at the same time. |

| A Grid tie solar power system is really a great idea when you think about it. You are able to feed electricity back to the grid which helps keep pollution down and the green house effect in check. By not requiring as much coal or natural gas or the use of nuclear fuel. Which is a hazard to the planet because it takes thousands of years for the Earth to absorb the waste. And then millions of tax dollars each year to guard the hazard waste site and clean up the leakage. There are some draw backs to Grid Tie Inverters. You will have an electric bill for the rest of your life. There will always be a franchise fee, point of use fee, net metering fee and then federal, state and local taxes. Or you can buy batteries every ten years for an off grid system. I feel by not paying the monthly fees you will be able to buy a new battery bank every 10 years and have money left over. But you do have to take care of the off grid system your self and keep a generator for just in case. But no electric bill. But being grid tied allows you to force the nuclear guys use your renewable solar energy through your back feeding through your inverters. A grid tie system is normally on the roof of a home and has a ground wire attached to the panels. The ground wire is hooked to a grounding rod driven in the ground or the concrete in the home’s foundation. The solar panels will be wired for a very high voltage which allows for smaller wires to be ran to the grid tie power inverter where the DC voltage is converted to AC voltage and is connected to an electric meter. |
