| DC250 Inverter Disconnect Pictured here is the insides of a Xantrex 250 Amp DC Disconnect / Over Current module. It comes with a pre installed 250 amp Inverter over load breaker rated for DC voltage. It can be ordered as a DC175, which would house a 175 amp inverter over current breaker. Up to two 175 amp or 250 breakers can be placed in this unit. It as well has 4 knockouts to allow you to add breakers to protect your charge controller from two solar arrays and two battery banks. The enclosure is expandable to protect 2 Inverters, 2 Solar arrays and 2 Charge Controllers. The DC250 or DC175 Inverter Disconnects have pre-drilled holes to attach two shunts and several bonding blocks. |
| In the image above you can see the red battery cable entering into the bottom of the 250-amp breaker. Both ends of the breaker have a large setscrew to clamp the cable so no lugs are required. The cable clamp is attached to the breaker using a bolt which is a great place to attach the battery side of the charge controller or other items that are protected by their own over load device. Something that is yet to be installed in this unit is a ground-bonding block for the battery bank. However this is just fine as long as the battery bank and inverter are grounded elsewhere. |
